I've decided to take on yet ANOTHER project. My un-diagnosed ADHD won't let me work on just one thing for too long. While I still have tons of Marines to repaint, a Lizardman army to start, Harlequins laughing at me from their box, and some Cygnar Gun Mages (as well as a pair of the new Minutemen Jacks) to finish, my son has convinced me to begin building his army.
Say hello to Nobby the Nob. That's right! I'm going green! After talking to him at some length (with our best Orky accents), Oscar and I have decided to build an Evil Sunz mob. Speed Freaks on bikes will form the core of the army, but the occasional Killa Kan and Dred will show up. Who can pass them up? They are some of the coolest kits GW has ever produced. Nobby here is my test model. I figure by the time he is old enough to play the game, I'll have quite a large force assembled for him. What do you think? Is five too young for 40K?

Star Phantoms Project Complete!
My original goal was to have 1850 points of Star Phantom goodness completed for the March tournament at Gamers Sanctuary. However, babies and work conspired to push my deadline back. If that wasn't enough, GS bumped the point value of the tournament in April up to 2250. My solution was simple; VINDICATORS! I love the Demolisher cannon and they are a very fluffy choice for my siege-breaking marines. Mission accomplished!
Here is my list:
Captain: Combi-Melta, Power Fist, Digital Weapons
Librarian: Epistolary, Storm Bolter, Vortex of Doom, and Gate of Infinity
10 Scouts: 8 Sniper Rifles, Heavy Bolter, Power Fist
2 X 10 Tactical Marines: Combi-Melta, Power Fist, Melta Gun, Multi-Melta in a Drop Pod
Ironclad Dreadnought: Ironclad Launchers, 2 Heavy Flamers, 2 Hunter-Killer missiles, Drop Pod w/Locator beacon.
Dreadnought: Extra Armour, Drop Pod w/Locator Beacon.
5 Terminators: Thunder Hammer/Storm Shields.
Land Raider Redeamer: Multi-Melta, Extra Armour
Devastator Squad: 2 Plasma Cannon, 2 Heavy Bolters.
2X Vindicators: Extra Armour, Siege Shields.
I actually managed to play two rounds in the tournament as well before a splitting sinus headache forced me to volunteer for the bye in round three. I was nearly tabled both times, but had two very fun games.
On a whim, I decided to take advantage of the table space and good lighting at GS to take a few army shots for this post. The TO knew I was leaving and reminded me of the painting portion of the event. After looking over my army and comparing it to the others present, he decided to award me with Best Painted! I was stoked! I am much prouder to have won that then the tournament itself (which went to fellow Fresh Coaster Tau4Eva and his mech BA list, btw).
Stay tuned here and at freshcoast40k.com for more. 6th edition wishlists, video batreps and much more are on the horizon!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
I am excited about the doubling of the range, especially the addition of Glazes (thinned washes), Textured paints (with a little sand or grit in them), and Dry (thicker mixes for drybrushing). More greens, pinks, and purples are also a great thing. Maybe GW will take a look at their metallic paints next.

Two more squads down...
The Devastators and a squad of Sternguard (not in my list, but too cool not to paint) are finished.
I'm getting tired of infantry, so I'm going to knock out the drop pods and Land Raider before moving on to the two Tac squads and the scouts. I even took time out to put a squad of Arcane Tempest Gun Mages together. I think I'll take a brief GW break and work on them once my Marines are done.
Be sure to check out our "Month of Contempt" on Freshcoast40k.com. The whole gang is painting Contemptor dreadnoughts for this month. I'm doing mine as a Mortis pattern variant with dual Assault Cannons. I'll be posting pics of it, discussing how I magnetized it, and what the Mortis pattern brings to a Space Marine army.

Star Phantoms Update
The Star Phantom muster continues.
The decals were a bit of a pain. I had to tinker with the settings on my photo printer and spray some Krylon sealer on the sheet to keep the ink from washing off, but I am quite happy with the results. I also like the brown bases much more than the black I normally would go with. Next up are the heavy and special weapons. I might dive into the four drop pods in my list soon. Stay tuned to freshcoast40k.com next month for something special.

Star Phantoms on the Horizon!
I had some free time today with the new grot sleeping most of the time and the older one at grandma's. I figured it would have to be now, or never!
I need to touch up a few things and put the decals on, but here he is; Captain Androcles! The of the Star Phantoms will be on their way shortly. The Lizardmen are on the slate for my summer project, but with the speed I can knock these guys out, they might be done by then. Do I smell a possible Hordes force on the horizon?

From the jungles of Lustria!
Painting time has been scarce lately with all the preparations for my little Grot, who is due any day now. However, thanks to the constant encouragement from my little buddy, Oscar, I did manage to get my test model for my new Lizardmen army painted up.
I love the color orange. It is an under represented color in the Warhammer world. I wanted them to look like the mythical Salamander, a fire lizard. These guys come from the base of one of Lustria's many volcanoes. Orange skin with red scales on their backs, lots of gold decorations, and obsidian weapons compete my scheme.
Of course, I couldn't stop there. I had to put some paint down on one of my favorite models from the Lizardman range (which I picked up half-off from the wonderful folks at Gamers Sanctuary); Kroq-Gar and his faithful carnosaur, Grymloq!
Everything else I have is assembled to a pre-painting stage. I have a Slann and Chakax on the way to add to my battalion box and Ancient Stegadon. Another battalion box, regular Stegadon and some Teradon Riders are on the horizon for later this summer.
As excited as I am about these scaly bad-asses, I must finish my Star Phantoms for this spring. I'm targeting my original 1850 list for the next few weeks.
Captain w/ Power Fist and Combi-Melta
2X Tactical Squads w/ Power Fist, Combi Melta, Melta Gun, and Multi Melta in Drop Pods
Scout Squad w/ 8 Sniper Rifles, Heavy Bolter, and Sgt Tellion
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ 2 Heavy Flamers, 2 Hunter-Killer missiles, and assault launchers in a Drop Pod w/ Locator Beacon
Dreadnought w/ Multi Melta and Missile Launcher in a Drop Pod w/ Locator Beacon
5 Thunder Hammer Terminators in a Land Raider Redeemer w/ Multi Melta and Extra Armor
Devastator squad w/ 2 Heavy Bolters and 2 Plasma Cannons
The Dreads are painted, but not based. Everything but the Land Raider has been base coated. These guys should FLY off my desk as the paint scheme is so easy to complete. Once I get them moving, pics will follow.

Aaaaand Done!
Well, almost. I ran out of Elmer's glue for the base, but the model itself is complete. I was really hating the look of it last night after the wash dried. I'm still not thrilled with it, but the highlights on the blue and the decals helped set me at ease. I would still like to highlight the yellow, but I am not sure what color to use.
Unfortunately, this bad boy will have to wait for its debut. Due to my work schedule and the need for some quality time with my wife and son, I have to bow out of the big Apoc game this weekend. Have no fear; it will be very present in the Apoc game to finish out the current campaign we are running at GS.
Next up, the Star Phantoms will get their base coats and my Lizardmen will begin to be assembled.
